Steve Farr started Farr Farm Management Company, Inc. in 1994 after sixteen years of professionally managing 40+ farms for a local bank. At the same time, Steve completed education and licensing requirements to receive his Illinois insurance producers license in both Property & Casualty and Life & Health. Steve added crop hail insurance sales to his business services and did hail and multi-peril crop loss adjusting for several different crop insurance companies.
In 1996, Steve completed requirements and was licensed by the State of Illinois as a real estate salesperson. He began real estate sales with Plate Real Estate in addition to his farm management and insurance work, specializing in farmland, recreational properties, rural and small community homes. Steve completed his real estate brokers license and purchased 50% interest in Plate Real Estate, incorporating two businesses - Plate Real Estate, Inc. (real estate sales & services) and Farr Ag Services, Inc. - professional farm management services and crop insurance sales. About a year later, Steve purchased the balance of Plate Real Estate, Inc. and later changed the business name to Areawide Real Estate, Inc. In early 2008, Steve merged both businesses into Farr Property Services, Inc. and continues real estate sales, professional farm management and crop insurance sales.
